The Inn on the River

 
 
 
 
We just returned from a wonderful time at the Inn on the River in Glen Rose, TX. We took this outing to celebrate our 6month-a-versary. We were originally scheduled to go last weekend, but the weather was so bad that we decided to reschedule. We were so glad that we made that choice because the weather was just perfect this weekend! Before we left, my sweetie presented me with these beautiful roses to celebrate our first 6 months of marriage. When we arrived at the Inn, our room contained this note (briefly modified by us) and some wine. The Inn on the River is situated on the Brazos River, hence the name. It is a beautiful house with two floors and about 25 rooms. We stayed on the first floor in a beautifully decorated room (Kim, we were in #10...we tried to sneak into #25 to read your "entry" but it was occupied!;( Each room has a journal for guests to write about their experience at the Inn or any given topic of their choice. It was sweet to read about all of the good memories made there, but I will say a little creepy to read about the love that was rekindled in Room #10! Yikes! The grounds at the Inn are absolutely beautiful. There are HUGE trees (called singing trees...but we don't know why) and adorondike chairs for relaxing by the river. We also enjoyed the apricot tea that is available round the clock, along with hot oatmeal cookies! This morning, we got to have breakfast (made by a 5 star chef). They served peach Belgian waffles, which were absolutely delicious!! We walked around the square, peeked into cute gift/antique shops and talked to some "locals". Although there are no tv's in the rooms, we broke the rules and brought a laptop to watch a movie late last night. We snuggled into the awesome feather bed and watched "Fracture", a great thriller! This morning, after we had breakfast, we went back to sleep for a bit and then got dressed and ready for our adventure to Fossil Rim Wildlife Reserve!! There will be more to follow about that! This was such a wonderful time for us to relax and enjoy time together. We talked, laughed and loved on each other...it was great!!
